Scenario-based robustness assessment of building system life cycle performance

چکیده
The construction of low greenhouse gas emission buildings requires the consideration both embodied and operational emissions. While emissions mainly occur in phase, during entire building life are influenced by future developments such as climate change, electricity grid decarbonization, user behavior. Suitable methods which allow considering these uncertainties already design stage robustness assessments. This study proposes a scenario-based assessment method to investigate effects on buildings’ We scenario generation, energy simulation, calculation emissions, statistical evaluation results according different metrics. Two simulation models with time scales compared total 12 test cases. Finally, is demonstrated case study, where 40 configurations against 1260 scenarios investigated using five metrics: minimax regret, Spread, Maximin, Laplace’s Principle insufficient reasoning, Starr’s Domain criterion. For multi-family house located Zurich, Switzerland, we demonstrate how developments, e.g., change influence building's performance. example, slow heat pump systems perform most robustly other analyzed heating cooling systems. Depending chosen metrics, it further possible rate solutions optimistic, pessimistic, or optimal preference, making proposed framework valuable tool for decision-makers. In transition, conclude that analyzing performance without future-oriented data not suitable, encourage designers assess impact phase instead purely norm-based standard values, entirely based from past.

Municipal Waste Management System Based On Life - Cycle Assessment
This presentation discusses the ecological optimisation of municipal waste management (WM) systems. The purpose is to help local decision-makers in designing the integrated waste management solutions that are optimal from the ecological point of view. The study uses the life cycle methodology (LCA) for building a model and testing different waste management scenarios in order to see whether the...
متن کاملEnvironmental Assessment of Life Cycle of Waste Management System Based on LCAIWM1 Modeling (Case Study: Rasht City)
Background: Population growth and increased human activities in urban communities lead to large volumes of waste. This waste volume causes problems for human health and environmental pollution. Recently, a living environment assessment has been developed to improve the situation. The purpose of this study is to compare the environmental impacts of four urban waste disposal scenarios in Rasht ci...
متن کاملDevelopment of decision support tool for municipal solid waste management system in Iran based on life cycle assessment approach
Background and Objective: Various aspects including the environmental burdens, social and economic consequences of the waste management(WM) scenarios must be considered to come up with a comprehensive WM plan. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach is a systematic method to quantify the environmental burdens of each WM scenario. Materials and Methods: This study used an LCA approach to develop a...
متن کاملSpecification and Implementation of Ifc Based Performance Metrics to Support Building Life Cycle Assessment of Hybrid Energy Systems
Minimising building life cycle energy consumption is becoming of paramount importance. Performance metrics tracking offers a clear and concise manner of relating design intent in a quantitative form. A methodology is discussed for storage and utilisation of these performance metrics through an Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) instantiated Building Information Model (BIM). The paper focuses on ...
متن کاملLife-Cycle Assessment of Microalgal-Based Biofuels
Fossil fuel depletion and attempts of global warming mitigation have motivated the development of biofuels. Several feedstock and transformation pathways into biofuel have been proposed as an alternative to usual fuels. Recently, microalgae have attracted a lot of attention because of the promise of reduced competition with food crop and lowered environmental impacts. Over the last years, sever...
